My Style

My personal style as a photographer is constantly growing and evolving, but there are deep roots that I find I hold tight to. I only work with natural light. I find the tones more pleasing, the colors more vibrant, and the overall look more, well - natural. My photographs are meant to tell a story - a story of childhood, of love, of family. When you look at a photograph from your session, I want you to remember the connection you felt that day - and remember all the little things you find miraculous about those you love. I gravitate towards black and white photography with a photojournalistic edge. My favorite images from each session are always those that show true relationships - laughing together, cuddling in a nursery, or tickling in the grass.

Anyone could take a portrait of your family. I want to capture your life.

What is the process of booking a session?

Once you have decided to book a session with Kaoni Norris Photography, contact me to set your session date. Once your date is set, we will have a phone consultation to go over your desires and goals for the session. We will go over all session details such as location, clothing suggestions, the style of photography you would like, and what you hope for as the end result. This consultation allows me to understand what is most important to you, and will help you learn what you can expect from your session. You will then receive my Information Booklet in the mail. This booklet has all the information we covered in the phone consultation, and a bit extra. You'll find tips and tricks to help your session run smoothly, a fully updated price and product list, and post-session information. It's very important that you take the time to read through your booklet ~ it could mean the difference between an average session and an extraordinary experience! Session fees are due upon booking to reserve your session date, and may be paid with credit card via Paypal, or by mail (there will be an addressed envelope in your Information Booklet).

Locations

All sessions with Kaoni Norris Photography are On-Location. Maternity and Newborn sessions are usually in your home. This allows us to set up a portable studio or, even better, use your own home as a natural backdrop. For most other sessions, I prefer the best backdrop - Mother Nature. Outdoor sessions allow for many stunning settings, a natural feel to your photographs, and the best lighting available. There are many beautiful locations in the area that I can suggest, or you can suggest some of your own favorites. One of my favorite locations for families is their own home. We are able to move freely between indoors and outdoors, and often times environmental backdrops are the best.

Scheduling Maternity and Newborn Sessions

Time-sensitive sessions such as Maternity and Newborns should be scheduled well in advance to ensure an available date. I suggest booking these sessions at least 6 weeks in advance. I usually suggest Maternity Portraits to be timed around the 34th -36th week. This ensures that we can capture that beautiful glow, your new curves, and the emotional anticipation of the final weeks. Newborn Sessions should be booked before your baby is 4 weeks old. Babies older than this tend to lose those newborn qualities I strive to capture ~ the tiny wrinkles, the lines around the eyes, and the ability to fold into impossible positions. These are the traits that I want to help you remember through photographs.

Post-Session Information

Once we have finished your session, the exciting work of choosing and editing your final proofs begin. We will book your Ordering Session approximately 2 weeks from your session date. Please allow up to two weeks for this post-processing. Within the two weeks following your session, I will provide you with an online gallery of your proofs. This will allow you to view your session images several days before your Ordering Session. You may share your gallery with anyone you choose, and even take orders from family that may want portraits as well (all orders taken will count towards your total print order, and towards earning your Session Album!). At your ordering session we will view your Session Album, go over your order, and answer any questions you may have. Full payment is due upon ordering, and can be paid with a credit card through PayPal or by check. If you have earned or purchased your Session Album, it will be yours to keep at your Ordering Session. Your prints will arrive approximately 2 weeks after your order is placed. Once they arrive, I will call to set up a time to deliver your prints!

Cancellations

The Session Fee is due upon booking your session date, and is non-refundable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please give as much notice as possible so that I may offer the date to another client.
